Revised: Free Caron Crochet Along Stitch Is Right Game

Sharing is caring!

  • Email

The Stitch is Right Game was developed in 2016 and revised in 2024. Initially, we had wheels on our website that could spin, but technology has changed, and those wheels are no longer available. Dice is the next best alternative that doesn't require technology to make random choices. We have changed the stitches and now present the Dice: Stitch Is Right Crochet Game.

We have two versions this time. There will be a chevron version, as shown, and the download will also have a straight-row version. Crochet diagrams and more are provided.

The game is updated and changed stitches from the original game to keep the game more current with trends.

2 - Caron Jumbo Twirl - Canal (darker blue)

3 - Caron Jumbo Twirl - Off White

The Dice

Using just one dice, it will reveal three choices each time you roll:

  • First Roll - Decides the Colour. Label colours 1 to 6 on a piece of paper.
  • Second Roll - Decides the Stitch
  • Third Roll - Decides the Number of Rows. Use the numbers 1, 2 or 3. If you roll 4, 5 or 5, reroll again. The number of repeats should only be up to 3 times.

Decisions

Decide the brand using a 5 mm H/8 crochet hook and six colours, and decide which size you want to make. I will provide you more information on the number of chains to start a blanket in the right side you want.

Sizing

Stitch Multiples for This Crochet Wave Design. Each chevron = 28 sts. Side edges need 18 to keep the project balanced. Therefore; stitch multiple is 28 + 18 chains.

Project Sizes

Custom Size Multiples of 28 + 18. Each Chevron is 28 sts and 18 sts for the sides.
Scarves Ch 46 - 1 Chevron + Sides = 10" Wide and Typically 70" long for adults.

  • Receiving Blanket - Ch 130 - 4 Chevrons + Sides = 28" Wide and Typically Square.
  • Large Cradle - Ch 102 - 3 Chevrons + Sides = 22" Wide x 33" Long.
  • Baby Blanket - Ch 186 - 6 Chevrons + Sides = 40" Wide and Typically Square.
  • Children Blanket - Ch 214 - 7 Chevrons + Sides = 46" Wide and Typically Square.
  • Teenagers Blanket - Ch 242 - 8 Chevrons + Sides = 52" Wide by 60" Long.
  • Throw Afghan - Ch 298 - 10 Chevrons + Sides = 64" Wide by 70" Long.
  • Lapghans & Wheel Chairs - Ch 186 - 6 Chevrons + Sides = 40" Wide and Length of
    Legs.

Dice Roll Colour

You decide the colours. Record those numbers and match them to the colour when you roll them.

  • 1 - Colour A
  • 2 - Colour B
  • 3 - Colour C
  • 4 - Colour D
  • 5 - Colour E
  • 6 - Colour F

Starting From The Beginning

Roll the dice to decide the first colour.

Ch the number you need for the size blanket you want. See above list.

1st row: Dc 4th ch from hook (dc and skipped ch counts as 2 dc). 1 dc in the next 5 chs. *Dc3tog over the next 3 chs (valley), 1 dc in next 12 chs, 3 dc in the next ch (peak), 1 dc in next 12 chs. Rep from * across until last 9 chs rem. Dc3tog over next 3 chs, 1 dc in next 5 chs, 2 dc last ch. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc into the same stitch. 1 dc in the next 5 sts. *Dc3tog over the next 3 sts (valley), 1 dc in next 12 sts, 3 dc in the next st (peak), 1 dc in next 12 sts. Rep from * across until last 9 sts rem. Dc3tog over next 3 sts, 1 dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc last st. Turn.

Now Let's Play

Roll the dice for the colour. Roll again for the stitch number. Roll a third time to determine.

Stitch Dice Rolls

Each stitch combination has 2 rows to ensure the right side and wrong side of the blanket stay balanced. When you roll the number of rows, those two rows equal one. If you roll a two, repeat the instructions once more. If you roll a three, repeat the instructions two more times.

If you roll a 4, 5 or 6, roll the dice again to get a 1, 2 or 3.

Hello and thanks for all you do.
I'm making the Straight Lines Dice Game Blanket.
Which color number do I use to "Set the Playing Field?"

    Thanks so much

It's up to you. You can roll for the first colour you want to start with or just pick one.

There is a mistake in the bead stitch written pattern on the straight row pattern. You have left out a double crochet.

Thank you. It took me forever to see the error. I couldn’t see the obvious error. Appreciate you taking the time to messsage. I know it was months ago.

The colors are given right above the photo of PussPuss standing on the blanket.

He used Caron One Pound and Caron Jumbo Twirl.
